- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons white vanilla extract
- A flan pan
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
Preparation:
Caramel
- Make caramel by combining sugar and water in the pan and cooking over moderate heat swirling occasionally until color begins to turn golden.
- Turn heat to low and continue cooking and swirling constantly until color is dark brown and mixture smells of caramel.
- Place all the ingredients in the blender and blend for a minute.
- Strain the mixture in the caramelized flan pan.
- Cook over bain marie with boiling water at medium heat for 1 hour and 40 minutes
- Chill in refrigerator for 1 hour. Run a knife along the flan edges and invert onto serving plate. Serve.
